A self-taught, Emmy-winning director, Robert began his career in New York as a photographer before moving into music videos, live performance, and documentary storytelling through HOT 97. That foundation led him through creative leadership roles at Complex, YouTube Music, and Uninterrupted, where he spent six years directing the acclaimed HBO series The Shop , redefining the long-form interview format alongside LeBron James. The series earned multiple Emmy nominations, including a win in 2020.

Robert has since focused on ambitious documentary and branded work for HBO, Netflix, Apple TV+, Amazon, Peacock, and leading brands including Nike, Hennessy, CĂ®roc, Kia, and Under Armour. 

His feature documentary A Man Named Scott examined the artistic legacy of Kid Cudi through an intimate portrait of creativity, vulnerability, and cultural influence. He followed it with HBO's SHAQ , one of the network's most-watched documentaries, earning five Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Documentary Series. Most recently, Robert directed 5 Minutes , the opening film of Peacock's Beyond Saturday Night , celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saturday Night Live , with the series earning a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Documentary Series.
