Biography
Matvey Fiks is a New York–based director known for technically ambitious storytelling that balances lifestyle aesthetics with precise execution. His work is driven by a problem-solving mindset, where visual ideas are shaped as much by craft and logistics as by tone and emotion.
A graduate of the School of Visual Arts, Matvey’s early work was supported by Kodak and premiered at Locarno International Film Festival and New York Film Festival. He has since built a commercial career centered on projects that demand inventive solutions, from motion-control and continuous shots to technically complex, performance-driven campaigns.
His work includes campaigns for Gucci, Range Rover, Genesis, Square, Under Armour, Instagram, and Zara. Across genres, he focuses on identifying the core challenge within a script and designing a cinematic solution that aligns emotional clarity with technical precision.
Matvey is a recipient of the Webby People’s Voice Award for his documentary about photographer Daniel Arnold, and his music video Sky Breaking Clouds Falling received Silver at the Young Director Award in 2021.
